Central Florida is not one screen market

People assume a pool cage is a pool cage. Across the area we cover, four distinct things kill screen, and which one applies to you depends almost entirely on where you live.

Coastal — Brevard and east Volusia

In Melbourne, Titusville, Cocoa and Port Orange, salt air attacks the fasteners long before it touches the mesh. On a coastal enclosure the frame is often the limiting factor, and a rescreen onto corroded screws fails within a couple of years. We inspect fixings before quoting screen out here as a matter of course, and we would treat any quote that skips that step as a warning sign.

Under canopy — Winter Springs, Longwood, Winter Park, Oviedo

Mature oak cover cuts ultraviolet damage but replaces it with constant debris on roof panels, holding moisture against mesh that is already brittle. These cages fail one roof panel at a time rather than all at once, which makes partial panel work a genuinely sensible option far more often than it is elsewhere.

Near open water — the lake and river communities

Around the Harris Chain at Mount Dora and Eustis, the Butler Chain at Dr. Phillips, the St. Johns at DeBary, and lakefront Lake Mary, the problem is not the screen failing at all. It is that standard 18x14 mesh does not stop no-see-ums, so people stop using an enclosure that is in perfect condition. Finer mesh is the only fix.

Open, cleared lots — west Orange, Deltona, Lakeland, Lake Nona

Newer subdivisions built on cleared ground get very little debris and very little shade. Screen degrades evenly across the whole cage through sun alone, which is exactly the case where a full rescreen beats chasing individual tears.
