Screen enclosures in Lake Nona

Lake Nona is the newest ground we work on and the enclosures are correspondingly young, so this is not usually a repair conversation. What brings us here instead is upgrade work: swapping standard mesh for solar screen on west-facing panels, adding pet-resistant mesh at the base, or fitting a pet door into an existing panel. Laureate Park and Eagle Creek back onto a lot of open water and conservation, and the insect case for no-see-um mesh is stronger here than the age of the houses would suggest.

What the housing here means for your cage

Because the housing is new, the failure we do see is installation-related rather than age-related — screen that was never tensioned properly, or spline that has crept in the first few summers. Both are quick fixes and neither requires a full rescreen, and we will say so rather than sell you one.

Permits for Lake Nona go through the City of Orlando permitting office. Replacing screen in an unchanged frame is normally maintenance rather than permitted work, while structural changes generally are not — confirm with them before work starts, and we can tell you who to call. More on permits →

Lake Nona questions we get asked

My house is only a few years old. Why is the screen already loose?

Almost always because it was not tensioned properly when it was installed, or the spline has crept in the first few summers. Both are quick fixes. Neither needs a full rescreen and we will say so.

Can you fit a pet door into my existing Lake Nona enclosure?

Yes — that is one of the more common things we do here, precisely because the cages themselves are too new to need rescreening. We fit the door into the existing panel so the structure stays intact.

My builder's screen is already sagging. Is that covered?

That is between you and the builder, and worth asking them first if the house is still in warranty. If it is not, re-tensioning or re-splining the affected panels is usually a quick, inexpensive fix rather than a rescreen.
